Matthaeus Badders:  Mattaeus Bader and family from Jettenburg, Wuerttemberg, Germany arrived in Philadelphia, Pa. 11 Oct. 1752 on the ship "Forest" from Rotterdam.  Listed were Matthaeus Bader (b. ca 1714), shepard, wife Anna Maria (Latsch?), Children: John Georg Bader, age 18, Hans Martin 10, Anna Margaretha 6, Matthaus 3, Michael 6 mos.

Generation 2
John George Badders:  b. 31 Jul 1733, in Jettenburg, Wuerttemberg, Gemany.  d. 20 Jan 1820 Fawn, York County, Pa.
He served in the 4th Pennsylvania Regiment, during the Revolution during July 1777.  He married 2 Oct 1759 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Lancaster, Pa. Salome Baltesperger (b. abt. 1739)

Revolutionary Service:


Matthaeus' eldest son, George Badders, married the daughter of his father's 2nd wife, Salome Baltesperger in Lancaster. He had a family of 7 children all born in Lancaster before the Revolution. George served in the 4th PA Regt. in the Revolutionary War. On a list of soldiers who were owed money, he was owed 1 pound, 5 shillings for service from July 1777 to 1 April 1779. Following the war George was found in the 1779 Fawn twp, York Co. PA tax list. He married Deborah Huston about 1779 & had 7 more children.

"William Perry Badders. teacher, P.O. Box Black Hawk, was born in South Beaver township in 1847. His great grandfather, GEORGE BADDERS, was a soldier in the British army during the Revolution, and at the close of the was settled in York county, where he engaged in farming and milling. He married Deborah Huston, of Irish parentage, by whom he had nine children, seven of whom grew to maturity. He died in his  sev enty-seventh year. James, the second son, who came to Beaver county about 1816, and was by occupation a distiller, held a commission from the government of Ohio as captain of state militia. He settled on land now owned by William P., his purchase consisting of 375 acres. He married Christiana Frey (by whom were born two daughters and nine sons), and died in January, 1869, aged 80 years. George, the eldest son, born Aug. 18, 1811, married lucinda, daughter of Benjamin Todd, of Maryland, and had four sons and one daughter. William Perry, the eldest son, received his education at the common schools and at Beaver College. In 1875 he married Olivia, daughter of Samuel and Margaret Shrodes, of Hopewell township, this county. They have four children: Grace, George, Maggie and William. Since 1868, with exception of five years, Mr. Badders has been engaged in teaching. He owns a part of the farm purchased by his grandfather. He and his wife are members of the Methodist chuck: politically he is a Democrat, and is strictly temperate in principle and practice."
