The last name of Patience Bonham who married
Robert G. Cummings in Nelson
Co. Ky. is not positively known.
Certainly, reading Boner
for Bonham in old records is
possible. I have not viewed the record, comes from a book: Nelson
Co. Ky. Marriage Bonds, by Stancliff. There are Boner's in Nelson
Co. Ky. at the same time, so who knows. Having 2 sources
identifying an individual is more concrete than one source.
The Davis-Bosstick Genealogy (found on-line) lists her name as
Bonham. The following comes from that source, except for details
about death of Jacob Bonham,
which comes from an email: smgdavis (1999).
Patience's father, Jacob Bonham, enlisted 18 May 1782 as a
Sergeant under Col. Wm Crawford in the Sandusky Expedition against the
Indians. As records show 24 days of service, he was killed by the
Indians on June 9, 1782. DAR research 2010: Jacob Bonham; Pa. Rank Sgt.
b. ca. 1741, d. 6-1782 on Sandusky Expedition.
