Source Miller Family Hx by Garrett Miller (copy in Records): Prior to the year 1750, 4 brothers: John, William, Joseph, and Samuel Packwood, emigrated from Packwood Place England to the West Indies. Later they moved to New London Ct., where they established a sea transport business between New England seaboard and the East Indies.  William became a ship Master, commanding his own ship.  John died of yellow fever on a cruise to the East Indies. About 1750 Samuel and Joseph moved to Va., William remained at New London, Ct..  When the colonies rebelled against England, he operated privateer ships until the British captured New London, and destroyed his ships and warehouses in 1781.  William Packwood died in 1802.  He was the grandfather of General George H.
