James Robertson  was born April 29, 1795 in Va.(b. 1799-1880census), and died June 21, 1883 in Sullivan Co. In.  He married Diana Sortor(e) May 29, 1821 in Mercer Co. Ky, daughter of Henry Sortor(e) and Charity Stout.  She was born 1800 in Mercer Co. Ky, and died in Sullivan Co. In.

 Notes for James Robertson:
James Robertson was a son of William Robertson, a Revolutionary soldier, from Md.  James according to census records was born in Va. in 1799 or according to grave 4-29-1795.  He died on 6-21-1883 and is buried in Hickory Cem. Cass Twp. Sullivan Co. In.  He married Diana Sortor(e) on 5-29-1821 in Mercer Co. Ky.  They had at least 5 children.  1880 census list age as 81, b. Va.  Parents Md. and Md., William b12-19-1825 m Helen ?, Henry b 1826/29 m Martha Plew, Dana or David William b. 1830, Nancy b 1833, James Robert b.4-9-1834 m Lousia J Hester b 4-16-1913 Antioch Cem. Cass, James purchased from USA on 4-10-1848, 40 acres in S2T8 R8 (Bk87,pg 87), Sullivan Co. In.  We know that William was father from death record in Sullivan Co.  He was sick 8 days, a widower, and born in Va., James was living in Anderson Co. Ky. in 1850.  James wife Diana probably died in Ky.  James is buried near and uses the same tombstone as son William.  Anderson Co. Ky. was formed from Mercer and Washington Co. in 1827. The 1840 Anderson Co Ky census lists a James whose listings would match ours, however there are 7 children.  Interestingly, there is also a William in Washington Twp. who is 70-80 yrs old, with a wife of 60-70.  This is undoubtedly our James' father.  Also a James age 80-90 who had received a Revolutionary Pension.  Probably William and this James were brothers.  The Robertson's get confusing in Mercer Co. Ky. alot and there for a long time.
Hypothetical: there were 3 brothers and one sister: James (b.1754: m 1790 Sarah Hinton:Robert (b. 1760/1770 m. 1795, William (b.1760/1770) and Eliz Robertson m John Letcher 1789.  James served in Revolution, has a will.  These ideas come from early Mercer Co. Ky. marriage and will records.  There is an inventory record for William Robertson June 22, 1790(not located).  Also, Jan 1795. If correct Original James Robertson emigrated from Coleraine Ireland about 1737 d. 1754. Sons Alexander and George.  Alexander was born Augusta Co. Va. 11/22/1745

Henry Robertson  was born December 16, 1826 in Ky, and died May 06, 1893 in Sullivan Co. In.  He married Martha (Plew) Pough Bef. 1853 in Sullivan Co. In, daughter of Aldest Plew and Dursha Varon.  She was born May 1826 in Ky.

Henry Robertson was born 12-16-1826, probably in Anderson Co. or Mercer Co. Ky. a son of James and Diana (Sortor(e)) Robertson.  Henry married Martha J. Plew (Pough) in Ky. probably in Anderson Co. Ky. around 1852 or 1853.  They moved to Sullivan Co. In. between 1853 and 1855.  Henry purchased  land from Sturges on 2-13-1859 Sec 15-9-8, NE1/4 SE1/4. (Vol 21 pg.448.  Henry died on 5-6-1893 (aged 66yrs, 6m, 21days) and is buried in Hickory Cem. Cass Twp. Sullivan Co. In.  Henry on the 1880 census lists his parents places of birth as Va. and Ky. Martha Plough was born in Ky. probably Anderson Co. was still living in 1900 census: age 74 born in Ky with parents Ky and Ky., born may 1828.  They had 15 children with 5 still alive. Her exact date of death has not been determined, although she is buried(family tradition) in Hickory-no stone.  Martha J Robertson purchased from Sarah Jane (widow) Plew etc. al. on 4-26-1894: Sec 15-7-8 Bl 67 pg 384.  Transaction lists the following married couples Martha S. and D.R. Cowden,  John J and Annie Robertson, William H and Elizabeth Robertson, and Stauton and Lucinda Robertson.   Henry apparently owned other pieces of property S15T9R8, S14T9R8, S21T7R8, S15T7R8.

Martha S Robertson was born 1855 in In, and died 1945 in Sullivan Co. In.  She married Dock Rush Cowden December 28, 1876 in Sullivan Co. In, son of Joseph Cowden and Nancy James.  He was born Abt. 1857 in In, and died July 14, 1910 in Sullivan Co. In.
